Count in German (4)
I believe the answer is:
graf
'count' is the definition.
(German aristocratic title equivalent to count)
'german' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'german' could be 'g' (abbreviation) and 'g' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'raf' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'in' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for graf that I've seen before include "Seven-times women's Wimbledon champion, b. 1969" , "German tennis player, b. 1969" , "Steffi --, tennis champion" , "Noted tennis player" , "German count - German tennis player" .)
