Driving a point home? (7)
I believe the answer is:
nailing
'driving' is the definition.
The definition and answer can be both to do with contact as well as being present participle verbs.
Maybe there's a link between them I don't understand?
'a point home?' is the wordplay.
'a point' becomes 'N' (N is an example).
'home?' becomes 'ailing' (I can't justify this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'n'+'ailing'='NAILING'
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for nailing that I've seen before include "Securing" , "Securely pinning" , "Tacking" , "Fixing" , "Catching" .)
