Footballer refusing to work (7)
I believe the answer is:
striker
'footballer' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'refusing to work' is the wordplay.
I cannot really understand how this works, but
'work' could be 'strike' (striking is a kind of working) and 'strike' is located in the answer.
A single letter 'r' remains which might be clued in a way I don't see.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for striker that I've seen before include "A forward on a soccer team" , "player likely to score goal" , "Someone facing" , "one who's out?" , "Footballer; one withdrawing labour" .)
