Old measure used in angling (3)
I believe the answer is:
rod
This might be a double definition.
'old' is the first definition.
Although both the answer and definition are singular nouns, I can't see how they can define each other.
'measure used in angling' is the second definition.
'rod' can be an answer for 'measure' (I have seen 'Imperial measure' mean 'rod' so perhaps 'measure' could also mean 'rod'). I am unsure of the 'used in angling' bit.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for rod that I've seen before include "Long, straight stick" , "Long bar or pole" , "something fisherman brings home" , "Stick; angler" , "Old saying 'Spare the . . . and spoil the child'" .)
