Crossword Genius

Papa's in error ignoring wife's point (5)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

prong

I'm a little stuck... Click here to teach me more about this clue!

'point' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)

'papa's in error' is the wordplay.
'papa' becomes 'p' (phonetic alphabet: alpha, bravo, charlie etc.).
'in error' becomes 'rong' (I can't explain this - if you can you should give a lot more credence to this answer).
'p'+'rong'='PRONG'

'ignoring wife's' acts as a link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.

Can you help me to learn more?

(Other definitions for prong that I've seen before include "Spike of fork etc" , "Fork's point" , "Point of a fork" , "Tine of a fork" , "Fork part" .)

I've seen this clue in The Guardian.
