Quickly wield the axe twice (4-4)
I believe the answer is:
chop-chop
'quickly' is the definition.
(I've seen this in another clue)
'axe twice' is the wordplay.
'axe' becomes 'chop' (chop with an axe).
'twice' indicates the doubling of some letters.
'chop' doubled is 'CHOP-CHOP'.
'wield the' is the link.
I am not very happy about this link. Some or all of it may belong to another bit of the clue.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for chop-chop that I've seen before include "Quickly!" , "Hurry up!" , "Get a move on!" .)
