Resumptions of the occurrences (6-2)
I believe the answer is:
goings-on
'resumptions' is the definition.
Both the definition and answer are plural nouns.
Perhaps they are linked in a way I don't understand?
'the occurrences' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite see how this works, but
'occurrences' could be 'goings' (going is a kind of occurrence) and 'goings' is found within the answer.
The remaining letters 'on' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This may be the basis of clue (or it may be nonsense).
'of' acts as a link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for goings-on that I've seen before include "Activities, esp. dubious ones" , "mischief" , "Suspicious happenings" , "Suspect events or behaviour" , "Funny business" .)
