Crossword Genius

Talkative bird belonging to the writer recalled article (4)

Ross

I believe the answer is:

myna

'talkative bird' is the definition.
(bird which can imitate human speech)

'belonging to the writer recalled article' is the wordplay.
'belonging to the writer' becomes 'my' (belonging to the person writing).
'recalled' says the letters should be written in reverse.
'article' becomes 'an' (indefinite article).
'an' backwards is 'na'.
'my'+'na'='MYNA'

(Other definitions for myna that I've seen before include "Bird that's a good mimic" , "Asian bird" , "Mimicking bird" , "Bird good at mimicry" , "Speech-mimicking bird" .)

I've seen this clue in The Independent.
