When horses do so, does one get shot? (4)
I believe the answer is:
bolt
'shot?' is the definition.
(I've seen this before)
'when horses do so does one' is the wordplay.
I cannot quite understand how this works, but
'one' could be 'o' (I've seen this in other clues) and 'o' is found in the answer.
The remaining letters 'blt' is a valid word which might be clued in a way I don't understand.
This explanation may well be incorrect...
'get' is the link.
Can you help me to learn more?
(Other definitions for bolt that I've seen before include "Involved in security" , "Run away; bar of lock" , "Lightning flash, fasten" , "Leave suddenly and in a hurry" , "It makes fast" .)
